Wisear is developing “neural sensing” earbuds that use electrodes to monitor brain, eye, and facial activity, which are then translated into controls using artificial intelligence (AI). The earbuds allow users to control music through facial muscle movements, such as clenching the jaw to play or pause a track or skipping tracks. The company plans to introduce eye movement controls by the end of the year and brain activity controls in 2022. Wisear also intends to offer the technology to other earbud companies and eventually use the hands-free controls for augmented reality (AR). The finished earbuds are expected to resemble traditional true wireless earbuds with a battery life comparable to industry standards.
